The audience thought a goal was coming when Mircea Găvănescu got free with Valer Turbatu in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Mihail Bocu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 23 minutes into the game, Surina's Mircea Găvănescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valer Turbatu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Mircea Găvănescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valer Turbatu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Surina's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliodor Medeleanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valer Turbatu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mircea Găvănescu came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Valer Turbatu could save by the left post. Thanks to some nice moves Mircea Găvănescu could shoot a difficult shot in the 42nd minute, which Valer Turbatu however easily saved by the left post. Cacarezeni's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Eliodor Medeleanu 43 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcel Buhăescu was the one to do the kick off.
