Horea Coman received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eduard Ştefănucă came out and tried to block the shot, but Horea Coman slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 24th minute. FC STEAUA Bucuresti's Eduard Ştefănucă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valer Andrițoiu in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Pumnu in the 38th minute of play forced FC Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Romeo Mateianu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valer Andrițoiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eduard Ştefănucă. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valer Andrițoiu ran back to his position shaking his head. After 46 played minutes, FC Steaua Bucuresti's Luca Papadima shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eduard Ştefănucă came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Steaua Bucuresti reached it. Romeo Mateianu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adam Pumnu in the 47th minute of the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cornel Mortu to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Adam Pumnu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC STEAUA Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Pumnu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 54thth minute of the game Cornel Mortu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Steaua Bucuresti's Romeo Mateianu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Calistrat Breazu charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Calistrat Breazu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gelu Ghiondea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduard Ştefănucă having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Dumitru Cojan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eduard Ştefănucă was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Cornel Mortu took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Romeo Mateianu to make any attempt to save it. In the 75th minute, Horea Coman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eduard Ştefănucă was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. The crowd rose to their feet as FC STEAUA Bucuresti's Adam Pumnu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Romeo Mateianu. That made the score 4-2 after 84 minutes of play. 91 minutes into the match, FC STEAUA Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Valer Andrițoiu came free, but Eduard Ştefănucă reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute Horea Coman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduard Ştefănucă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the game, Gelu Breazu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Romeo Mateianu. Gelu Breazu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-3.
