If Saoirse McFrancise had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Saoirse McFrancise could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Romeo Dobrotă made a huge save. Cezar Loga kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. A collision led to FC Poli Timisoara getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Costin Albulescu hit a great ball. Marcelinho Rossi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Virgil Vârșan managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Poli Timisoara's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgil Vârșan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eliodor Aalexoaiei kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. FC Poli Timisoara's Romeo Dobrotă proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save FC Poli Timisoara from getting a goal against them. 32 minutes into the match, Saoirse McFrancise had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romeo Dobrotă. FC Poli Timisoara's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Saoirse McFrancise was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Nicolae Datcu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Passos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. A collision led to FC Poli Timisoara getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Andrei Răuțu hit a great ball. Romeo Dobrotă didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 46th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Saoirse McFrancise made a kick off. With an all-out effort, FC Poli Timisoara's José Passos threw himself towards the right post 54 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Nicolae Datcu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 62 played minutes FC Poli Timisoara got a freekick which was hit by Liviu Ţintea. FC Poli Timisoara's Virgil Vârșan got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 66th match minute, CEAHLAUL 72 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliodor Aalexoaiei to maneuver through the defense. Virgil Vârșan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the match, CEAHLAUL 72's Eliodor Aalexoaiei sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romeo Dobrotă narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgil Vârșan in the 73rd minute of play forced CEAHLAUL 72's goalkeeper José Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, CEAHLAUL 72's Avram Dășanu got a free kick in the 78th minute. Romeo Dobrotă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelinho Rossi, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. The supporters of CEAHLAUL 72 booed when FC Poli Timisoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolae Datcu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelinho Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Romeo Dobrotă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86th minute, Marcelinho Rossi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. CEAHLAUL 72's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
