Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Andrei Răchitan got the match started through his kick off. Donn McBrand received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Virgil Popilean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the match, Girdoaia UFC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisc Şumălan came free, but Virgil Popilean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisc Şumălan in the 7th minute of play forced Girdoaia UFC's goalkeeper Virgil Popilean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donn McBrand charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Donn McBrand the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marian Tilea hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. F.C.BABOIU79's Calistrat Bota proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save F.C.BABOIU79 from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Girdoaia UFC's zone, Francisc Şumălan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgil Popilean came out of the goal and Francisc Şumălan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aurel Alucusan's late challenge caught a F.C.BABOIU79's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aurel Alucusan helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Girdoaia UFC's Aurel Alucusan got a free kick in the 16th minute. The supporters of F.C.BABOIU79 booed when Girdoaia UFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iurie David didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Marcel Lovinescu made a precise shot to the right of Calistrat Bota. F.C.BABOIU79's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. When Damian Găvănescu came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the F.C.BABOIU79 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damian Găvănescu couldn't finish the play. If Laurențiu Goma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Virgil Popilean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laurențiu Goma in the 41st minute of the match. After 46 played minutes, F.C.BABOIU79's Marian Tilea shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Virgil Popilean came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in F.C.BABOIU79 reached it. 47 minutes into the match, Girdoaia UFC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisc Şumălan came free, but Virgil Popilean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

In the 52nd minute Francisc Şumălan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgil Popilean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francisc Şumălans short, quick shot in the 57thth minute got Virgil Popilean to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of F.C.BABOIU79 booed when Girdoaia UFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bogdan Baba didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Girdoaia UFC's zone, Francisc Şumălan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgil Popilean came out of the goal and Francisc Şumălan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd match minute, Girdoaia UFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeo Aaxiniei to maneuver through the defense. Virgil Popilean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurențiu Goma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute, Marcel Lovinescu made a precise shot to the right of Calistrat Bota. F.C.BABOIU79's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 75th play minute Francisc Şumălan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Virgil Popilean. 2-2. Calistrat Bota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Lovinescu in the 78th minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, F.C.BABOIU79's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Lovinescu came free, but Calistrat Bota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Calistrat Bota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorel Gheorghiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Virgil Popilean was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Francisc Şumălan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Francisc Şumălan really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. In the 91stth minute of the game Dorel Gheorghiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but F.C.BABOIU79's Calistrat Bota was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Francisc Şumălan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Virgil Popilean read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. F.C.BABOIU79 walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
