Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. After 11 minutes, Mugurel Murgoci mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Tartasesti and the Steaua Bucuresti players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mugurel Murgoci hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute Marcu Răduț shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nistor Budianu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ştefan Comarnescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The FC Tartasesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nistor Budianu should have stopped the shot. If Horea Gafița had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 34 minutes, Sabin Feraru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabin Feraru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sabin Feraru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nistor Budianu having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, FC Tartasesti's goal looked a bit too open when Sabin Feraru came free, but Nistor Budianu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Tartasesti's Manole Tunaru got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sabin Feraru was the one to do the kick off. Horea Gafița sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Tartasesti's Mugurel Murgoci got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Arthur-Maurits Van Beringen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sabin Andronache was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. After 64 played minutes FC Tartasesti got a freekick which was hit by Mugurel Murgoci. Sabin Andronache came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Tartasesti's Manole Tunaru. But to his dismay, Manole Tunaru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 70th minute, Horea Gafița got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sabin Feraru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Nistor Budianu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sabin Feraru struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Nistor Budianu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua Bucuresti.
