Niculae Balint made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flavius Apăvăloaie in the 6th minute. Dan Mihuleac lost his temper 9 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee gave Muscelusa CSM a penalty, 11 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Felix Cămărășescu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Steaua's Niculae Balint. 1-0. David Davidescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dinu Borcea having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Steaua's goalkeeper Niculae Balint had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Flavius Apăvăloaie. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eric Simionescu in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dinu Borcea saved Muscelusa CSM from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eric Simionescu in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dinu Borcea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Davidescu in the 29th minute of play forced Muscelusa CSM's goalkeeper Dinu Borcea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Steaua booed when Muscelusa CSM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filip Plop didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iulian Muraru in the 33rd minute of play forced Steaua's goalkeeper Niculae Balint to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grigore Steriopol kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 38th minute Narcis Aldea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niculae Balint saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Muscelusa CSM's Flavius Apăvăloaie ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Niculae Balint. Niculae Balint yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0.

After 52 minutes of play, Steaua's Eric Simionescu made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dinu Borcea was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ciprian Hurgoi hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Eric Simionescu in the 58thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dinu Borcea, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Niculae Balint made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavius Apăvăloaie in the 61st minute of play. Dinu Borcea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eric Simionescu's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute, Iulian Muraru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavius Apăvăloaie might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Niculae Balint. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Flavius Apăvăloaie ran back to his position shaking his head. Ionel Dichiseanu kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. 73 minutes into the match, Steaua's goal looked a bit too open when Flavius Apăvăloaie came free, but Niculae Balint reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Muscelusa CSM getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Vlad Aldescu hit a great ball. Steaua's Ciprian Hurgoi couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 75th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Muscelusa CSM. Eric Simionescu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 77thth minute tested the skills of Dinu Borcea when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 83 minutes into the match, Steaua's goal looked a bit too open when Iulian Muraru came free, but Niculae Balint reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If David Davidescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Muscelusa CSM fans cheered their team off the field, for while Steaua had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
