The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Balitesti booed when TURKEY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Iliuță didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mihnea Vişoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Milcoveanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mihnea Vişoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tudor Barboni in the 17th minute of play. Alex Iliuță charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Iliuță the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 22nd minute, Emanuel Milcoveanu made a precise shot to the right of Mihnea Vişoiu. TURKEY's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 28 minutes, Codrin Cucerdean mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Balitesti and the TURKEY players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thanks to some nice moves Codrin Gorun could shoot a difficult shot in the 42nd minute, which Nichifor Chivu however easily saved by the left post. Gică Tudose sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Petre Neacșu to make the kick off. Nichifor Chivu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Codrin Gorun in the 54th minute of the match. When Gică Tudose came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the TURKEY fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gică Tudose couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute David Şoiman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nichifor Chivu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, TURKEY's Mihnea Vişoiu got control of the ball when Emanuel Milcoveanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, TURKEY's Horea Boeru got a free kick in the 69th minute. Petre Neacșu charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. TURKEY's Mihnea Vişoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tudor Barboni in the 87th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, TURKEY's David Şoiman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nichifor Chivu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. David Şoiman might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nichifor Chivu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Şoiman ran back to his position shaking his head.
