The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Calistrat Cernescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigore Abrudan, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Aurelian Giurcă succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 11th playminute. Nae Dumitrachescu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Calistrat Cernescu 13 minutes into the match. Grigore Abrudan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Calistrat Cernescu was a little too slow when Grigore Abrudan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 3-0. The supporters of Sapinta FC booed when Plopi AC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Istrătescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dinu Turcan fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Plopi AC's protests and gave Dinu Turcan a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes Plopi AC got a freekick which was hit by Dinu Turcan. Viorel Mihele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonard Turcan having to interfere. Sapinta FC's Calistrat Cernescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigore Abrudan in the 41st minute of play. If Gigi Elenescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Grigore Abrudan to strike the kick off in the second half. If Grigore Abrudan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nae Dumitrachescu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Calistrat Cernescu having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Sapinta FC's Ionică Brășneanu got a free kick in the 68th minute. After some careless play in the Sapinta FC defense, Nae Dumitrachescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Calistrat Cernescu. The Sapinta FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Calistrat Cernescu should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gigi Elenescu during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 75 played minutes Sapinta FC got a freekick which was hit by Gigi Elenescu. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Grigore Abrudan in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Calistrat Cernescu saved Sapinta FC from getting behind. If Grigore Abrudan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Calistrat Cernescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grigore Abrudan in the 84th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Plopi AC's zone, Gigi Elenescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonard Turcan came out of the goal and Gigi Elenescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 93 minutes, Nae Dumitrachescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Plopi AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nae Dumitrachescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nae Dumitrachescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Calistrat Cernescu having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, Plopi AC could leave the field as winners, despite Sapinta FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
