Gavril Simionescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maxim Bălace in the 3rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in SCM VASLUI's zone, Maxim Bălace stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gavril Simionescu came out of the goal and Maxim Bălace tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th match minute, UTA Arad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristide Ciuhandu to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of SCM VASLUI:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of UTA Arad:s goal. The supporters of UTA Arad booed when SCM VASLUI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valer Maghiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Codrin Logofeteanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Codrin Logofeteanu made a kick off. Aristide Ciuhandu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Codrin Logofeteanu struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Mihnea Toader didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SCM VASLUI. SCM VASLUI's Valer Maghiar got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mihnea Toader made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Codrin Logofeteanu sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 60 minutes, Maxim Bălace managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UTA Arad's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maxim Bălace was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 61 played minutes UTA Arad got a freekick which was hit by Aristide Ciuhandu. Maxim Bălace sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Maxim Bălace had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maxim Bălace received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Gavril Simionescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SCM VASLUI's Gavril Simionescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maxim Bălace in the 81st minute of play. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Codrin Logofeteanu took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Mihnea Toader to make any attempt to save it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dacian Bâlea during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, SCM VASLUI's Dacian Bâlea got a free kick in the 89th minute. Mihnea Toader took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Codrin Logofeteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alin Apetroaiei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. UTA Arad had won after a very even match.
