FCR Balan's Răzvan Gafița played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costel Bejgăneanu in the 9th minute of play. If Dorel Aanuţei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dorel Aanuţei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Valentin Ignătoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Rapid's Emanuel Mustățea got a free kick in the 26th minute. Eric Golumbean hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Costel Bejgăneanu kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Costel Bejgăneanu put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Răzvan Gafița. After 41 played minutes FCR Balan got a freekick which was hit by Liviu Dobrin. Mihăiţă Zburlea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valentin Ignătoiu having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dorel Aanuţei got free with Valentin Ignătoiu in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Costel Bejgăneanu made the kick off in the second half. Mihăiţă Zburlea struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Valentin Ignătoiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FCR Balan. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Rapid's Costel Bejgăneanu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Răzvan Gafița. That made the score 0-2 after 55 minutes of play. In the 59th match minute, FC Rapid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costel Bejgăneanu to maneuver through the defense. FC Rapid's Valentin Ignătoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorel Aanuţei in the 63rd minute of play. Dorel Aanuţei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valentin Ignătoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihăiţă Zburlea, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 73rd minute, Eric Golumbean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
