The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Valer Darabonț's late challenge caught a Ortisoara CF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With his leg Flavius Macavei managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Ortisoara CF's Leontin Ungureanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Aristide Cutean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Butulucu AS's zone, Leontin Ungureanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavius Macavei came out of the goal and Leontin Ungureanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Moise Volosin kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Butulucu AS's zone, Leontin Ungureanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavius Macavei came out of the goal and Leontin Ungureanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Liviu Honciu might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sabin Petrea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Liviu Honciu ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Liviu Honciu in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sabin Petrea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sabin Petrea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anton Slătineanu's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Leontin Ungureanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Liviu Honciu kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. In the 46th minute Liviu Honciu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sabin Petrea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Moise Volosin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabin Petrea having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Liviu Honciu scored 0-1 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sabin Petrea, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sabin Petrea didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 85th minute, which inside left pole to 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Liviu Honciu got free with Sabin Petrea in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Flavius Macavei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aristide Cutean, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Liviu Honciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Leontin Ungureanu came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Ortisoara CF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leontin Ungureanu couldn't finish the play. Flavius Macavei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aristide Cutean in the 94th minute of the match.
