Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) S.S. Lazio Craiova's Ioan Chibulcutean started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Octavian Manole took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Nisipeanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute, Martin Nisipeanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Octavian Manole showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Popic, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After 47 played minutes Striharet got a freekick which was hit by Eusebiu Corlățean. The corner led S.S. Lazio Craiova's Panait Răuțchi to fire away a dangerous shot which Ernest Petrică despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Lazio Craiova booed when Striharet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Popic didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Ioan Chibulcutean came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the S.S. Lazio Craiova fans jumped to their feet. The referee showed Eusebiu Corlățean the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Striharet were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
