But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Irinel Bulcă couldn't finish the play. If George Enache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iustinian Barbăroșie got free with Tiberiu Godeanu in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tiberiu Godeanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iustinian Barbăroșie in the 24th minute. George Enache recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgar Talianu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Irinel Bulcă's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. The supporters of CS U Boteni booed when Aripile Vintului was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mircea Hârlab didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 29 played minutes Iosif Cristian shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for Aripile Vintului's Edgar Talianu to catch but Iosif Cristian was lucky. It became 0-1 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. The supporters of Aripile Vintului booed when CS U Boteni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iosif Cristian didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Sorin Negruț fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aripile Vintului's protests and gave Sorin Negruț a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Aripile Vintului getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Iustinian Barbăroșie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Tiberiu Godeanu made a huge save. After 40 played minutes CS U Boteni got a freekick which was hit by Iosif Cristian. In the 43rd minute, Costică Todea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With 45 minutes on the clock, Emil Hobjilă commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sorin Negruț to make the kick off. Costică Todea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Edgar Talianu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edgar Talianu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Irinel Bulcă went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Irinel Bulcă's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgar Talianu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. George Enache received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Edgar Talianu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aripile Vintului's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Costică Todea was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Sorin Negruț hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Irinel Bulcă could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Edgar Talianu made a huge save.
