In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Somcutza UFC's goalkeeper Doru Popoiu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 7 minutes into the game, Horia Izbașa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Somcutza UFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iași the free kick. After a rather tough play, Somcutza UFC's Horia Izbașa got a free kick in the 7th minute. Doru Popoiu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nicolae Mahonea. Nichifor Gheban received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Doru Vasiliu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sebastian Amitroaiei during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sebastian Amitroaiei hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Matei Ursu kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Nicu Jerca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doru Vasiliu having to interfere. Octav Olăroiu's late challenge caught a Somcutza UFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Octav Olăroiu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 30th match minute, Iași was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octav Olăroiu to maneuver through the defense. Nicu Jerca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicu Jerca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the match, Iași's goal looked a bit too open when Nicu Jerca came free, but Doru Vasiliu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicu Jerca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doru Vasiliu having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Iași were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Somcutza UFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nicolae Mahonea took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dacian Potocianu in the 59th minute of play forced Somcutza UFC's goalkeeper Doru Popoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Doru Vasiliu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastian Amitroaiei in the 67th minute of the match. Dacian Potocianu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 74 minutes, Iustin Enoaia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Somcutza UFC and the Iași players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 80th minute, Dacian Potocianu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Matei Ursu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Doru Popoiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. After some careless play in the Somcutza UFC defense, Dacian Potocianu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Doru Popoiu. The Somcutza UFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Doru Popoiu should have stopped the shot. In the 93rd minute Nicu Jerca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doru Vasiliu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the game, one of Somcutza UFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Nicolae Mahonea shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Iași's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
