Ştefan Crușeveanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Romeo Panescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Ştefan Crușeveanu made a precise shot to the right of Romeo Panescu. Viitorul Constanta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. David Miclescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorin Cubleșan having to interfere. David Miclescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mugur Dragomir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Romeo Panescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When F.C. Universitatea Cluj's Ştefan Crușeveanu in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Viitorul Constanta's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. Universitatea Cluj's zone, Silviu Săndoi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorin Cubleșan came out of the goal and Silviu Săndoi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Iustin Sandu kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Silviu Săndoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Viitorul Constanta's supporters rose to their feet, but Silviu Săndoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorin Cubleșan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romeo Bucataru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorin Cubleșan having to interfere. Ştefan Crușeveanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Panescu having to interfere. The Viitorul Constanta players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. F.C. Universitatea Cluj were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mugur Dragomir to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugur Dragomir in the 51st minute of play forced Viitorul Constanta's goalkeeper Romeo Panescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romeo Panescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugur Dragomir in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute, F.C. Universitatea Cluj's Mugur Dragomir dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Florin Ţirpescu hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Romeo Panescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mugur Dragomir, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Silviu Săndoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorin Cubleșan having to interfere. F.C. Universitatea Cluj's Dorin Cubleșan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Miclescu in the 71st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mugur Dragomir in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romeo Panescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. F.C. Universitatea Cluj's Dorin Cubleșan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Miclescu in the 76th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Silviu Săndoi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dorin Cubleșan. F.C. Universitatea Cluj's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Silviu Săndoi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Miclescu in the 84th minute of play forced F.C. Universitatea Cluj's goalkeeper Dorin Cubleșan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Miclescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dorin Cubleșan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. If Silviu Săndoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dorin Cubleșan came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Viitorul Constanta's Silviu Săndoi. But to his dismay, Silviu Săndoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
