Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Dan Balaban got the match started through his kick off. Dorin Cezariu made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Isac Iovanovici sent off a good shot on target. Eduard Banciu might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gică Cozmâncă. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eduard Banciu ran back to his position shaking his head. Mugurel Predescu charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mugurel Predescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 13th match minute, Smirdan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugurel Predescu to maneuver through the defense. Silviu Dobrescu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gică Cozmâncă. Smirdan's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduard Banciu in the 17th minute of play forced Smirdan's goalkeeper Gică Cozmâncă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dorin Cezariu was out of position in the 19 minute of play, and Dan Balaban capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dan Balaban really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After 22 played minutes Smirdan got a freekick which was hit by Călin Negrescu. The supporters of FC Știința booed when Smirdan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugurel Predescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Isac Iovanovici had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 32 minutes into the game, Cristinel Diaconu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Gică Cozmâncă was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Isac Iovanovici received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Dorin Cezariu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Eduard Enășoiu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Știința's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Smirdan the free kick. Cristinel Diaconu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Gică Cozmâncă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eduard Banciu to strike the kick off in the second half. Călin Negrescu's late challenge caught a FC Știința's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Călin Negrescu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC Știința booed when Smirdan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Călin Negrescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Știința's Eduard Banciu got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dan Balaban sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Călin Negrescu was shown his second yellow card after 65 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 69 minutes into the match, Eduard Banciu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gică Cozmâncă, 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isac Iovanovici in the 74th minute of play forced FC Știința's goalkeeper Dorin Cezariu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Știința's Eduard Enășoiu got his second yellow card of the match in the 77th minute. The referee ordered Eduard Enășoiu off the ground. Eduard Enășoiu kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Maxim Dobrinescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Cristinel Diaconu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the game, Dumitru Ghițulescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Smirdan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Știința the free kick. After 82 played minutes Smirdan got a freekick which was hit by Dumitru Ghițulescu. After a rather tough play, Smirdan's Maxim Dobrinescu got a free kick in the 84th minute. Silviu Dobrescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 86 minutes into the game, Ionuț Romeo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gică Cozmâncă. Ionuț Romeo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-4. Gică Cozmâncă made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Cristinel Diaconu sent off a good shot on target. The FC Știința supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Știința would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
