FCM Bacau's Constantin Gordunescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matei Văcărescu in the 19th minute of play. Pavel Stoicănescu charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pavel Stoicănescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Adrian Cosariu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 29thth minute of the game Matei Văcărescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FCM Bacau's Constantin Gordunescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mugur Bociort's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Niculae Harbuz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, FCM Bacau's goal looked a bit too open when Matei Văcărescu came free, but Constantin Gordunescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 41 minutes into the game, Mugur Bociort recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Niculae Harbuz. Mugur Bociort showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After having played for 44 minutes, Ovidiu Dancu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Giurgeni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ovidiu Dancu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 46 minutes, Virgil Alexandrescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FCM Bacau and the Giurgeni players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th minute, Virgil Alexandrescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matei Văcărescu to make the kick off. Constantin Gordunescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matei Văcărescu in the 67th minute of the match. Constantin Gordunescu made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Ovidiu Dancu sent off a good shot on target.
