Tiberiu Dobrinescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Orghidan having to interfere. Denis Orghidan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiberiu Dobrinescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eusebiu Botgros struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Fabian Hârciog didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA. Tiberiu Dobrinescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Denis Orghidan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's Lucrețiu Latarețu got a free kick in the 28th minute. Sever Mironov kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. After the first half UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tiberiu Dobrinescu made a kick off. Denis Orghidan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiberiu Dobrinescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Ioan Zamfir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Denis Orghidan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Rugonfalva's Tiberiu Dobrinescu in 54 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Denis Orghidan guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 56 minutes into the game, Nistor Cioiu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rugonfalva's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA the free kick. After 56 played minutes Rugonfalva got a freekick which was hit by Nistor Cioiu. 58 minutes into the match, Rugonfalva's goalkeeper Fabian Hârciog had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by David Trăistaru. UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's David Trăistaru got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 63 minutes, Eusebiu Botgros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eusebiu Botgros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Rugonfalva's Fabian Hârciog got control of the ball when David Trăistaru tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Ioan Zamfir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
