Hansa Rostok SV.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. After having played for 33 minutes, Francisc Onișoru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC STEAUA ADJ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisc Onișoru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nistor Curuțiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gică Nedelciu in the 38th minute of play. If Francisc Onișoru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Hansa Rostok SV.'s Petre Zogreanu got a free kick in the 45th minute. If Francisc Onișoru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iurie Robu to make the kick off. In the 57th minute, Gică Nedelciu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nistor Curuțiu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 65th minute Iurie Robu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doru Bobailă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeo Hârțan charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Romeo Hârțan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Iurie Robu came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the FC STEAUA ADJ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iurie Robu couldn't finish the play. Basarab Zbereanu kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. If Francisc Onișoru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the match, Francisc Onișoru had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Doru Bobailă. Hansa Rostok SV.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Francisc Onișoru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 98th minute Marin Mirciu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nistor Curuțiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC STEAUA ADJ fans cheered their team off the field, for while Hansa Rostok SV. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
