After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Vasile Costăchescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gerbovec's supporters rose to their feet, but Vasile Costăchescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olimpiu Tarcea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 26th match minute, Gerbovec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastian Tănăsocă to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Gerbovec's zone, Octav Preda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filip Pârlog came out of the goal and Octav Preda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eric Purje sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vasile Costăchescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olimpiu Tarcea having to interfere.

Olimpiu Tarcea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horia Nicea in the 55th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Horia Nicea in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olimpiu Tarcea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vasile Costăchescu in the 67th minute of play forced CFR Cluj's goalkeeper Olimpiu Tarcea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric Purje received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Filip Pârlog tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind CFR Cluj's goalkeeper Olimpiu Tarcea, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
