The ball went over the crossbar instead. 10 minutes into the match, Cobweb's goal looked a bit too open when Francisc Bădila came free, but Toader Andriescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Toader Andriescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisc Bădila, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Stelian Stancu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisc Bădila in the 25th minute of play forced Cobweb's goalkeeper Toader Andriescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Nicolae Ghimiș came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Cobweb fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolae Ghimiș couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Cobweb defense, Francisc Bădila kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Toader Andriescu. The Cobweb fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Toader Andriescu should have stopped the shot. Doru Gârneață made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicolae Ghimiș in the 35th minute. Doru Gârneață took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernest Tremurici, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Ernest Tremurici managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cobweb's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernest Tremurici was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doru Gârneață breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ghighiu AFC's goalkeeper Doru Gârneață, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Doru Gârneață was a little too slow when Ernest Tremurici got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 43rd minute. The score was now 1-1. After 47 played minutes Cobweb got a freekick which was hit by Pompiliu Todericiu. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 63rd match minute, Cobweb was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vlad Vochin to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Ghighiu AFC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Mugurel Hobjilă hit a great ball. In the 71st minute, Nicolae Ghimiș got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 73 minutes into the match, Ghighiu AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernest Tremurici came free, but Doru Gârneață reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doru Gârneață stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernest Tremurici's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Toader Andriescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisc Bădila in the 82nd minute of the match. Francisc Bădila struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Toader Andriescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ghighiu AFC.
