Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Marian Graur got the match started through his kick off. Marian Graur might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Codruț Ghimpu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marian Graur ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of FC Ramnicu Valcea booed when Argestru CS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florin Lupu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12thth minute of the game Moise Nisipeanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Argestru CS's Florin Petrescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marian Graur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Ghimpu having to interfere. Codruț Ghimpu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marius Ciolofan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th match minute, Argestru CS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marius Ciolofan to maneuver through the defense. Marian Graur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Ghimpu having to interfere. Florin Lupu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Marian Graur managed to get in a good position for a shot. Argestru CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Marian Graur was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Codruț Ghimpu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30th minute, Marian Graur got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marian Graur hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute, Sebastian Apetroaiei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marian Graur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Ghimpu having to interfere. Argestru CS's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Valeriu Morovan 59 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. In the 62nd minute Marian Graur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Codruț Ghimpu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Codruț Ghimpu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florin Lupu in the 71st minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Marian Graur's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Codruț Ghimpu was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Marian Graur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Codruț Ghimpu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Argestru CS's Marian Graur got a good chance for a goal in the 100th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The FC Ramnicu Valcea supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Ramnicu Valcea would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
