After a rather tough play, FC Ramnicu Valcea's Costin Codrescu got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Codruț Ghimpu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Augustin Gurzău in the 38th minute. Codruț Ghimpu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aron Brad's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. When C.S. Lia Herghe's supporters rose to their feet, but David Buzoianu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Codruț Ghimpu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valeriu Morovan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aron Brad in the 91st minute of play forced FC Ramnicu Valcea's goalkeeper Codruț Ghimpu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the game, one of FC Ramnicu Valcea:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. C.S. Lia Herghe walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
