International ACL's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Ghionea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Constantin Stejaru came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Rapid București fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Constantin Stejaru couldn't finish the play. After 22 minutes, Iordache Şelaru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the International ACL and the Rapid București players grew even worse after the yellow card. Constantin Stejaru hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Nicu Danciu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Dan Udrescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Nicu Danciu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Constantin Stejaru to make the kick off. Anton Simionescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Petre Nastac tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dan Udrescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Constantin Stejaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 62nd minute, Rapid București's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Anton Simionescu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Dan Udrescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Constantin Stejaru in the 64th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Anton Simionescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Petre Nastac was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After 84 played minutes Rapid București got a freekick which was hit by Robert Bejenaru. If David Ghionea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dan Udrescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicu Danciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
