Fabian Zogreanu came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Chivas's Nichifor Stoian. But to his dismay, Nichifor Stoian quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The supporters of FC Rapid booed when Chivas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Suşu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Șerban Sărăroiu fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chivas's protests and gave Șerban Sărăroiu a yellow card for diving instead. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Chivas! After having played for 39 minutes, Codrin Urderean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Rapid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Codrin Urderean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Denis Chirtoacă to strike the kick off in the second half. When Nichifor Stoian came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Chivas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nichifor Stoian couldn't finish the play. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Rapid's goalkeeper Fabian Zogreanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 70th minute, FC Rapid's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Denis Chirtoacă fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Nichifor Stoian scored 2-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fabian Zogreanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manole Răuţă during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC Rapid getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Manole Răuţă hit a great ball. Fabian Zogreanu was a little too slow when Denis Chirtoacă got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 2-3. Albert Gârniceanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denis Chitimia in the 97th minute of play.
