Paul Meleșcanu made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Grigore Crăcană sent off a good shot on target. Grigore Crăcană's late challenge caught a FC NIGHT BIRD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Grigore Crăcană helped the player get up and apologised. After 11 played minutes Basca got a freekick which was hit by Grigore Crăcană. Basca's Adam Zdrenţu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gigi Achim in the 14th minute of play. FC NIGHT BIRD's Gelu Dinu suffered a concussion after 18 minutes and had to leave the field. 18 minutes into the game, Cosmin Pisculescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Basca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC NIGHT BIRD the free kick. After a rather tough play, Basca's Cosmin Pisculescu got a free kick in the 19th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Basca's zone, Gigi Achim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adam Zdrenţu came out of the goal and Gigi Achim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gigi Achim came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the FC NIGHT BIRD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gigi Achim couldn't finish the play. Basca were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after FC NIGHT BIRD's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Iordache Frumușanu took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Iordache Frumușanu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Paul Meleșcanu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With an all-out effort, Basca's Paul Meleșcanu threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Moise Zbârlea, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Moise Zbârlea to strike the kick off in the second half. Paul Meleșcanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grigore Crăcană in the 52nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Moise Zbârlea in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paul Meleșcanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Moise Zbârlea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Grigore Crăcană fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Meleșcanu having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC NIGHT BIRD's zone, Grigore Crăcană stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Meleșcanu came out of the goal and Grigore Crăcană tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paul Meleșcanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Grigore Crăcană's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Basca's Grigore Crăcană sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paul Meleșcanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gigi Achim got free with Adam Zdrenţu in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Basca's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
