Daniel Goiceanu started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Noua Generație's goal looked a bit too open when Ferdinand Cosoreanu came free, but Mihail Antipa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Noua Generație booed when Poli Iasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tudor Gaiță didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute of the match Paul Josan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Niculae Aelenei showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 10 minutes, Daniel Goiceanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Noua Generație's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Goiceanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 14 minutes into the match, Daniel Goiceanu notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Poli Iasi's Niculae Aelenei. Niculae Aelenei was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Noua Generație's Daniel Goiceanu got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 19 minutes, Tudor Gaiță mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Poli Iasi and the Noua Generație players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 19th minute, Tudor Gaiță hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Goiceanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Daniel Goiceanu put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Niculae Aelenei. Noua Generație's Mihail Antipa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferdinand Cosoreanu in the 32nd minute of play. When the match had been going on for 36 minutes, Poli Iasi's Petruț Chitoran got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Mihail Antipa. In the 40th match minute, Noua Generație was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ciprian Hoancă to maneuver through the defense. 43 minutes into the match, Noua Generație's goalkeeper Mihail Antipa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andrei Zgrăbunţa. After the first half Noua Generație were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ferdinand Cosoreanu was the one to do the kick off. In the 54thth minute of the game Marcel Șişman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poli Iasi's Niculae Aelenei was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Adrian Zotincă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Niculae Aelenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Horaţiu Budișteanu during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 77thth minute of the game Ferdinand Cosoreanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Noua Generație's Mihail Antipa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Noua Generație's zone, Ferdinand Cosoreanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihail Antipa came out of the goal and Ferdinand Cosoreanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adrian Zotincă struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Niculae Aelenei didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Noua Generație. Niculae Aelenei made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Horaţiu Cojocaru sent off a good shot on target. If Adrian Zotincă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 94th minute of the game. One of Poli Iasi:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Noua Generație:s goal. Paul Josan walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post.
