The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of FC NIGHT BIRD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FcVoluntari:s goal. In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for FcVoluntari. Romeo Florea stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Paul Meleșcanu. 1-1. In the 47th minute, Gelu Cotoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gigi Achim stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, FC NIGHT BIRD's goal looked a bit too open when Gelu Cotoi came free, but Paul Meleșcanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paul Meleșcanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gelu Cotoi went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Paul Meleșcanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gelu Cotoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Gelu Cotoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Paul Meleșcanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Sbârcea in the 66th minute of play forced FC NIGHT BIRD's goalkeeper Paul Meleșcanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gelu Cotoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 77 minutes, Robert Sbârcea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FcVoluntari's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Sbârcea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Gigi Achim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC NIGHT BIRD's zone, Gelu Cotoi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Meleșcanu came out of the goal and Gelu Cotoi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Robert Sbârcea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Robert Sbârcea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. FcVoluntari had won after a very even match.
