The supporters of Poli Iasi booed when Basca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurel Ferenț didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 12 played minutes, Poli Iasi's Petruț Chitoran shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Adam Zdrenţu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Poli Iasi reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moise Zbârlea in the 13th minute of play forced Poli Iasi's goalkeeper Niculae Aelenei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grigore Crăcană received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Niculae Aelenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moise Zbârlea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grigore Crăcană fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niculae Aelenei having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Grigore Crăcană notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Poli Iasi's Niculae Aelenei. Niculae Aelenei was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Grigore Crăcană sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 43 minutes, Vlad Holban mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Poli Iasi and the Basca players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 43 played minutes Poli Iasi got a freekick which was hit by Vlad Holban. Basca's Moise Zbârlea got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Poli Iasi defense, David Murgescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niculae Aelenei. The Poli Iasi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niculae Aelenei should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Moise Zbârlea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Adam Zdrenţu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrei Zgrăbunţa in the 56th minute of play. Niculae Aelenei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moise Zbârlea, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 65th minute, Grigore Crăcană made a precise shot to the right of Niculae Aelenei. Poli Iasi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. In the 68th minute, Cosmin Pisculescu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Niculae Aelenei, passed just outside the right post. With his leg Niculae Aelenei managed to avoid a goal in the 74thth minute, when Basca's Grigore Crăcană fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Grigore Crăcană took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Niculae Aelenei to make any attempt to save it. In the 82nd minute Moise Zbârlea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niculae Aelenei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Grigore Crăcană managed to get in a good position for a shot. Basca's supporters rose to their feet, but Grigore Crăcană was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niculae Aelenei breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Moise Zbârlea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Niculae Aelenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Grigore Crăcană came free with the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Niculae Aelenei could save by the left post. Adam Zdrenţu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferdinand Cosoreanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Ferdinand Cosoreanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adam Zdrenţu having to interfere.
