The referee showed Ciprian Teleagă the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Unirea Alba Iulia getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Ciprian Teleagă hit a great ball. In the 12th minute of the match Dumitru Tiberian shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Filip Toacsen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Marin Condescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Haidaru's Gelu Mihaiu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ciprian Teleagă got his second yellow card in the match during the 17th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Unirea Alba Iulia's Ciprian Teleagă got a free kick in the 18th minute. Marin Condescu hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Robert Chiriță in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Filip Toacsen saved Unirea Alba Iulia from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Unirea Alba Iulia's zone, Robert Chiriță stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filip Toacsen came out of the goal and Robert Chiriță tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 26 minutes into the match, Moise Chițu notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Unirea Alba Iulia's Filip Toacsen. Filip Toacsen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 34th minute, Robert Chiriță ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Filip Toacsen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Dumitru Tiberian's late challenge caught a Unirea Alba Iulia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dumitru Tiberian helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Haidaru fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 45th minute. Penalty! In the 46th minute, Unirea Alba Iulia got a penalty, and Emanuel Buzgar placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Moise Chițu got free with Filip Toacsen in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Moise Chițu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Filip Toacsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Chiriță in the 70th minute of play forced Unirea Alba Iulia's goalkeeper Filip Toacsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Haidaru defense, Marcu Vasilică kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gelu Mihaiu. The Haidaru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gelu Mihaiu should have stopped the shot. 75 minutes into the game, Ernest Dulca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Unirea Alba Iulia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Haidaru the free kick. After a rather tough play, Unirea Alba Iulia's Ernest Dulca got a free kick in the 75th minute. The audience was convinced that Robert Chiriță's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filip Toacsen was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Unirea Alba Iulia's Filip Toacsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Chiriță in the 81st minute of play.
