Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Manole Istodor started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rdth minute of the game Călin Manolache who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but JIU PETROSANI's Costică Mitescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 3 played minutes JIU PETROSANI got a freekick which was hit by Mihăiţă Ficsinescu. Călin Manolache's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 7thth minute, Costică Mitescu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. JIU PETROSANI's attack was well implemented in the 8th minute, but when Stelian Horia was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. When Stelian Horia came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the JIU PETROSANI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stelian Horia couldn't finish the play. Costin Dobre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Eugen Condrea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Stelian Horia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stelian Horia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Condrea having to interfere. Athletic Club Brasov's Eugen Condrea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilie Nicorici in the 24th minute of play. Stelian Horia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Călin Manolache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costică Mitescu having to interfere. JIU PETROSANI's Costică Mitescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save JIU PETROSANI from getting a goal against them. Călin Manolache came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Costică Mitescu could save by the left post. Manole Istodor might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Costică Mitescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manole Istodor ran back to his position shaking his head. Ilie Nicorici hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manole Istodor during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 47th match minute, Athletic Club Brasov was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manole Istodor to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Călin Manolache sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Călin Manolache recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. JIU PETROSANI's Costică Mitescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manole Istodor in the 59th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Călin Manolache in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Costică Mitescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Manole Istodor scored 1-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Costică Mitescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Leonard Dancu hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Manole Istodor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Costică Mitescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manole Istodor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Călin Manolache in the 83rd minute of play forced JIU PETROSANI's goalkeeper Costică Mitescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Stelian Horia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mihăiţă Ficsinescu hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Athletic Club Brasov fans cheered their team off the field, for while JIU PETROSANI had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
