The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th minute, Eugen Bărnuțiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Florin Ponor fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's protests and gave Florin Ponor a yellow card for diving instead. Panait Baniu's late challenge caught a FC Steaua Bucuresti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Panait Baniu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 18th match minute, F.C.Olympique de Bucarest was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Panait Baniu to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Curta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Curta came free, but Irinel Şoiman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's Florin Ponor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Francisc Carp narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eugen Bărnuțiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emanuel Elian's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Francisc Carp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Florin Ponor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Francisc Carp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's Emilian Leu got a free kick in the 44th minute. If Daniel Curta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Daniel Curta made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to F.C.Olympique de Bucarest getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Panait Baniu hit a great ball. Irinel Şoiman made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Eugen Bărnuțiu sent off a good shot on target. In a very dangerous position, a player in F.C.Olympique de Bucarest fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 61st minute. Penalty! After having played for 66 minutes, Florin Ponor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's supporters crossed their fingers, but Florin Ponor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's Florin Ponor got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Florin Ponor in the 69th minute of play forced FC Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Francisc Carp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. F.C.Olympique de Bucarest's Emanuel Elian got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Francisc Carp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florin Ponor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Elian in the 83rd minute of play forced FC Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Francisc Carp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Steaua Bucuresti booed when F.C.Olympique de Bucarest was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gheorghe Stana didn't get a good kick on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Steaua Bucuresti players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for F.C.Olympique de Bucarest.
