The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fabian Zburliş fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cazimir Angheloiu having to interfere. Robert Brânzaru came free with the goalkeeper in the 11th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Lucian Romulus could save by the left post. Robert Brânzaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucian Romulus having to interfere. Sudrigi's Cătălin Prelipceanu got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The attack was good, but when Fabian Zburliş in the 21st minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabian Zburliş in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cazimir Angheloiu saved Sudrigi from getting behind. Lucian Romulus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cătălin Prelipceanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Fabian Zburliş left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Universitatea Cluj fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Sorin Șişman kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. A collision led to Sudrigi getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Cristian Braru hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the match, Sudrigi's goal looked a bit too open when Isac Zdrenţu came free, but Cazimir Angheloiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Sudrigi players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Universitatea Cluj were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabian Zburliş made a kick off. Lucian Romulus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cătălin Prelipceanu in the 53rd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, Universitatea Cluj's goal looked a bit too open when Cătălin Prelipceanu came free, but Lucian Romulus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Emanuel Holban had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Cristian Braru got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Emanuel Holban fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucian Romulus having to interfere. Lucian Romulus stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Brânzaru's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Sudrigi's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Fabian Zburliş 65 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. Isac Zdrenţu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Universitatea Cluj's Cazimir Angheloiu threw himself towards the right post 76 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fabian Zburliş, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 78th minute Universitatea Cluj were awarded a corner. Gelu Surugiu went to the cornerflag to take it. Anton Zoreanu was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 88 minutes into the game, Universitatea Cluj's Fabian Zburliş nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cazimir Angheloiu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Lucian Romulus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cătălin Prelipceanu in the 96th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Universitatea Cluj eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
