The supporters of Universitatea Cluj booed when FC Peretu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horia Cinteză didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucian Romulus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petru Baba in the 17th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FC Peretu's zone, Horaţiu Cosor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leontin Cobzeanu came out of the goal and Horaţiu Cosor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anton Ciompec received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Lucian Romulus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabian Zburliş sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucian Romulus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petru Baba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 34 played minutes FC Peretu got a freekick which was hit by Avram Velicu. Leontin Cobzeanu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Gelu Surugiu. Felix Romanescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucian Romulus having to interfere. In the 70th minute Fabian Zburliş shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leontin Cobzeanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anton Ciompec might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lucian Romulus. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anton Ciompec ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Universitatea Cluj's Lucian Romulus got control of the ball when Felix Romanescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match was over FC Peretu could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Universitatea Cluj throughout the match.
