With a little luck, OLYMPYA SANPETRU's Ionuț Pintilescu got control of the ball when Isac Zdrenţu tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an all-out effort, Universitatea Cluj's Ionuț Pintilescu threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fabian Zburliş, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 9th match minute, OLYMPYA SANPETRU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Borcea to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Isac Zdrenţu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Universitatea Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Isac Zdrenţu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ionuț Pintilescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Emanuel Borcea kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Horaţiu Cosor's late challenge caught a OLYMPYA SANPETRU's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Horaţiu Cosor helped the player get up and apologised. Horaţiu Cosor hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute of the match Costin Poalelungi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lucian Romulus showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Universitatea Cluj's Fabian Zburliş slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ionuț Pintilescu. That made the score 1-0 after 34 minutes of play. After having played for 37 minutes, Isac Zdrenţu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universitatea Cluj's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isac Zdrenţu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fabian Zburliş received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Ionuț Pintilescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute of the match, Fabian Zburliş tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ionuț Pintilescu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Fabian Zburliş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Șerban Purje made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of OLYMPYA SANPETRU booed when Universitatea Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filip Ciocan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucian Romulus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Șerban Purje, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Universitatea Cluj's Lucian Romulus proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Universitatea Cluj from getting a goal against them. In the 68th minute, Dinu Tănasă ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lucian Romulus was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Isac Zdrenţu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ionuț Pintilescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. If Fabian Zburliş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bogdan Bădiță charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bogdan Bădiță the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 83rd minute, Bogdan Bădiță hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 87 minutes into the match, Universitatea Cluj's goal looked a bit too open when Șerban Purje came free, but Lucian Romulus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes had been played when some careless play by Universitatea Cluj's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ovidiu Bungeanu was slow to take the kick. During this time OLYMPYA SANPETRU's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Ovidiu Bungeanu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lucian Romulus quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 92nd minute, Șerban Purje fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Lucian Romulus, passed just outside the right post. The Universitatea Cluj supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching OLYMPYA SANPETRU's performance. The match ended with a win for OLYMPYA SANPETRU.
