An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Doloman in the 8th minute of play forced SS Castrum Deva's goalkeeper Marcel Vârlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Edgar Basarabescu fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Real Brasov's protests and gave Edgar Basarabescu a yellow card for diving instead. Lucian Cristian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Codrin Trăilă in the 28th minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, SS Castrum Deva was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vlad Ciobanu to maneuver through the defense. SS Castrum Deva's Marcel Vârlan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save SS Castrum Deva from getting a goal against them. In the 36th minute Codrin Trăilă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucian Cristian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gigi Istrătescu made a kick off. The SS Castrum Deva fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcel Vârlan should have stopped the shot. After 72 minutes of play, SS Castrum Deva's Isac Lupșe made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lucian Cristian was left in no man's land by his defense there! Codrin Trăilă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute, Marcu Perișoară hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcel Vârlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgar Basarabescu in the 94th minute of play. Gigi Istrătescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Marcel Vârlan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SS Castrum Deva eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
