The audience was convinced that Martin Petriceanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lucian Cristian was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. When Gigi Istrătescu fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Real Brasov's protests and gave Gigi Istrătescu a yellow card for diving instead. Gigi Istrătescu kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. If Martin Petriceanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugen Terzian could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Vlad Baicu made a huge save. In the 31st minute, Filip Zbagan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of FC Real Brasov booed when CSMS Iasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dinu Dobre didn't get a good kick on the ball. A long shot from Ivan Busuioc in the 33rd minute of play was well struck, but Vlad Baicu made a really good save at the right post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Doloman during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Victor Doloman hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute Gigi Istrătescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vlad Baicu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Eugen Terzian made a precise shot to the right of Vlad Baicu. CSMS Iasi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gigi Istrătescu to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Eugen Terzian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vlad Baicu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eugen Terzian in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vlad Baicu saved CSMS Iasi from getting behind. When Gigi Istrătescu came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the FC Real Brasov fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gigi Istrătescu couldn't finish the play. Vlad Baicu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Terzian in the 63rd minute of play. FC Real Brasov's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Dacian Brânzaru 65 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Vlad Baicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugen Terzian in the 68th minute of the match. After 71 played minutes FC Real Brasov got a freekick which was hit by Viorel Uncescu. With his leg Lucian Cristian managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when CSMS Iasi's Martin Petriceanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Dacian Brânzaru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucian Cristian read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. If Gigi Istrătescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gigi Istrătescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Vlad Baicu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 90 minutes, Dinu Dobre mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CSMS Iasi and the FC Real Brasov players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 91st match minute, CSMS Iasi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinu Dobre to maneuver through the defense. Eugen Terzian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
