The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. UFC Nistru's Dinu Tudor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Constantin Sărăroiu in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iurie Drăgănoiu in the 6th minute of play forced UFC Nistru's goalkeeper Dinu Tudor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Costică Alexa fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UFC Nistru's protests and gave Costică Alexa a yellow card for diving instead. After 10 played minutes UFC Nistru got a freekick which was hit by Costică Alexa. 13 minutes into the match, UFC Nistru's Ernest Zogreanu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emil Ipate narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Ernest Zogreanu came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the UFC Nistru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernest Zogreanu couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as UFC Nistru's Francisc Vârnav slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Emil Ipate. That made the score 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. 31 minutes into the match, UFC Nistru's goal looked a bit too open when Constantin Sărăroiu came free, but Dinu Tudor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dinu Tudor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Constantin Sărăroiu in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 34th match minute, FC Policub Ghiroda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doru Merișor to maneuver through the defense. In the 38th minute of the match Cezar Anghelescu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emil Ipate skillfully saved the ball. Ernest Zogreanu might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emil Ipate. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ernest Zogreanu ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of FC Policub Ghiroda booed when UFC Nistru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vlad Ficsinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Constantin Sărăroiu scored 1-1 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dinu Tudor, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Constantin Sărăroiu was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Ernest Zogreanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Ipate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francisc Vârnav blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emil Ipate having to make a save. Constantin Sărăroiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Dinu Tudor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the game, FC Policub Ghiroda's Constantin Sărăroiu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dinu Tudor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Constantin Sărăroiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute.
