But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victor Cristoiu couldn't finish the play. 7 minutes into the match, FCU 1948 CRAIOVA's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Cristoiu came free, but Claudiu Mirciulescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 13 minutes, Narcis Ciompec managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FCU 1948 CRAIOVA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Narcis Ciompec was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Octavian Latarețu stood somewhat misplaced when Narcis Ciompec came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 15 minute. Narcis Ciompec struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. The tension between the FCU 1948 CRAIOVA and the FC Oltul Rapid players grew even worse after the yellow card. 30 minutes into the game, one of FCU 1948 CRAIOVA:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 36 minutes into the match, FC Oltul Rapid's goal looked a bit too open when Narcis Ciompec came free, but Octavian Latarețu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute of the match FCU 1948 CRAIOVA got a corner. FC Oltul Rapid's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ernest Maghiran ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 38th minute, Nicodim Stroe fired away a sharp free kick straight at the goal. It looked like it might be really tough for the goalie to handle, but the shot went into the stands to the left of Octavian Latarețu. Narcis Ciompec recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gelu Boia kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. In the 49th minute of the match Ernest Maghiran sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Octavian Latarețu skillfully saved the ball.

Avram Colceriu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Octavian Latarețu having to interfere. Narcis Ciompec's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Octavian Latarețu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute, Victor Cristoiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Teodor Popovici managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Oltul Rapid's supporters rose to their feet, but Teodor Popovici was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Claudiu Mirciulescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 61st minute Avram Colceriu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octavian Latarețu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Narcis Ciompec came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the FCU 1948 CRAIOVA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Narcis Ciompec couldn't finish the play. If Victor Cristoiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Avram Colceriu in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Octavian Latarețu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Narcis Ciompec received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Octavian Latarețu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Narcis Ciompec's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Octavian Latarețu was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. The referee gave FCU 1948 CRAIOVA a penalty, 78 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ernest Maghiran, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Oltul Rapid's Octavian Latarețu. 3-1. Narcis Ciompec scored 4-1 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Octavian Latarețu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 88th minute, Dorin Onuț had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Andrei Horhoianu fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Oltul Rapid's protests and gave Andrei Horhoianu a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Oltul Rapid's Andrei Horhoianu got a free kick in the 89th minute. Claudiu Mirciulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victor Cristoiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Avram Colceriu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 98 minutes into the match, FC Oltul Rapid's goal looked a bit too open when Avram Colceriu came free, but Octavian Latarețu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of FCU 1948 CRAIOVA booed when FC Oltul Rapid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 99 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ionică Ciobanu didn't get a good kick on the ball.
