After a rather tough play, Manchester United FC's Ionel Jucan got a free kick in the 11th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester United FC's zone, Nechifor Ivăncioiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valeriu Susara came out of the goal and Nechifor Ivăncioiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when Dragonul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Oargă didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicolae Oprescu got free with David Vintilă in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nicolae Oprescu in the 24thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of David Vintilă, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 29th minute of the match, Iurie Borcea got a very nice opportunity to score, but David Vintilă was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 30 minutes, Nechifor Tilea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dragonul and the Manchester United FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Through an outstanding action, after 48 minutes, David Vintilă successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iurie Borcea helped the player get up and apologised. In the 67th minute, Iurie Borcea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manchester United FC's Valeriu Susara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Manchester United FC from getting a goal against them. Valeriu Susara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nechifor Ivăncioiu in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute, Iurie Borcea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dorin Volosin in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck David Vintilă prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 86th minute, Nicolae Oprescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dragonul's David Vintilă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorin Volosin in the 93rd minute of play. Manchester United FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
