Cazimir Brănet charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cazimir Brănet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Oltul Rapid booed when CFR Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cazimir Brănet didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind CFR Cluj's goalkeeper Horea Zotincă, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The nice shot from Teodor Popovici in the 54thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Horea Zotincă had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. In the 59th minute, Teodor Popovici got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Maxim Barbăneagră had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Oltul Rapid's Teodor Popovici got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Teodor Popovici recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Alex Agulescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. CFR Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Agulescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Octavian Latarețu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Octavian Latarețu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Avram Coșeriu in the 86th minute of the match. After having played for 87 minutes, Maxim Barbăneagră managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CFR Cluj's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maxim Barbăneagră was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 87th match minute, CFR Cluj was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolae Gherasescu to maneuver through the defense. Victor Cristoiu struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Horea Zotincă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Oltul Rapid. Cazimir Brănet hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. FC Oltul Rapid had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
