Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Constantin Homescu started the match with the kick off. Călin Itu's late challenge caught a Budieni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Călin Itu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Budieni booed when Popteleac was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Călin Itu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 played minutes Popteleac got a freekick which was hit by Olimpiu Gruescu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Constantin Homescu in the 15th minute of play forced Popteleac's goalkeeper Marcu Onișoru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A throw-in in the 20th minute of the game was made by Marian Dulca with George Geambașu as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 22nd minute, Tudor Gafița got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tudor Gafița struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Nistor Dobre didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Popteleac. 27 minutes in the game Marian Dulca did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to George Geambașu. When Moise Rogozea came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Popteleac fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moise Rogozea couldn't finish the play. Popteleac were furious when Călin Itu was red carded, 41 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Popteleac! Marcu Onișoru had in the 44thth minute some difficulties stopping Marian Dulca's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Popteleac's Tudor Gafița sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nistor Dobre narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisc Bostan made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Olimpiu Gruescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Popteleac booed when Budieni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marian Dulca didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Popteleac's Sergiu Cercelescu got a free kick in the 96th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
