Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Hotesti's Pavel Măgherușan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Eusebiu Inculeț came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Hotesti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusebiu Inculeț couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Hotesti booed when Otelul Galati was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iordache Donici didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Otelul Galati's goal looked a bit too open when Pavel Măgherușan came free, but Cornel Cioiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Nicu Calboreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicu Calboreanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Eric Lupașcu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Otelul Galati's Nicu Calboreanu in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Eusebiu Inculeț recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Otelul Galati's Cornel Cioiu got control of the ball when Eusebiu Inculeț tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adam Doicaru during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicu Calboreanu to make the kick off. Hotesti's Vlad Zăreanu got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Otelul Galati's Pompiliu Păltineanu got a free kick in the 58th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebiu Inculeț in the 60th minute of play forced Otelul Galati's goalkeeper Cornel Cioiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabriel Armeanca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Eric Lupașcu made a huge save. Cornel Arnăuțescu kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Otelul Galati's Cornel Cioiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pavel Măgherușan in the 67th minute of play. Romeo Cârneci's late challenge caught a Hotesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romeo Cârneci helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Otelul Galati got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Cârneci. Cornel Cioiu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pavel Măgherușan's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute, Romeo Ciompec hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pompiliu Păltineanu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eric Lupașcu. Hotesti's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Pavel Măgherușan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 played minutes Otelul Galati got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Cârneci. Cornel Cioiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pavel Măgherușan in the 91st minute of play. After 92 played minutes Otelul Galati got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Cârneci.
