With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alex Trifănucă prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Otelul Galati booed when Ultramax1000 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Stolojan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute of the match Otelul Galati got a corner. Ultramax1000's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pompiliu Păltineanu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Pompiliu Păltineanu made a great header on Otelul Galati's corner, it was just that Ultramax1000's Alex Trifănucă managed to reach the ball for a save. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. Alex Trifănucă came out of the goal and Pompiliu Păltineanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicu Calboreanu in the 88th minute of play forced Ultramax1000's goalkeeper Alex Trifănucă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Otelul Galati's Gabriel Armeanca got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Nicu Calboreanu came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Otelul Galati fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicu Calboreanu couldn't finish the play. 96 minutes into the match, Ultramax1000's goalkeeper Alex Trifănucă had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriel Armeanca. When the final whistle sounded Otelul Galati left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Ultramax1000.
