Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Anton Negru started the match with the kick off. Toader Jumancă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anton Negru in the 6th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vlad Calota in the 8th minute of play forced FC Baia Mare's goalkeeper Bogdan Teodor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Steaua Bucuresti's Nechifor Costescu got a free kick in the 17th minute. Pavel Nuțu was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 18th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anton Negru in the 26th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Toader Jumancă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gavril Lupu's late challenge caught a FC Baia Mare's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gavril Lupu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 27th match minute, Steaua Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gavril Lupu to maneuver through the defense. Toader Jumancă made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurențiu Mercescu in the 33rd minute. Marius Secară kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Vlad Calota sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 48 minutes into the match, FC Baia Mare's goal looked a bit too open when Sever Tărâţă came free, but Bogdan Teodor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sever Tărâţă to strike the kick off in the second half. Bogdan Teodor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vlad Calota in the 53rd minute. Anton Negru might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Toader Jumancă. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anton Negru ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 58th minute Laurențiu Mercescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toader Jumancă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anton Negru in the 59th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Toader Jumancă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the game, Nechifor Costescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Steaua Bucuresti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Baia Mare the free kick. Vlad Calota took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bogdan Teodor. Bogdan Teodor dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Vlad Calota blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bogdan Teodor having to make a save. Sever Tărâţă recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Steaua Bucuresti's Toader Jumancă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anton Negru in the 81st minute of play. After 82 played minutes Steaua Bucuresti got a freekick which was hit by Marcu Crăciunaș. In the 85th minute of the match Mihail Răchitan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Toader Jumancă skillfully saved the ball. Anton Negru charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anton Negru the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, FC Baia Mare's Anton Negru got a free kick in the 91st minute. Mihnea Gugulanu kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. The Steaua Bucuresti players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
