Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. In the 7th minute, one of Rapid CFR:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Rapid CFR. The referee gave Chinari CSS a penalty, 9 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Eugen Ghimiș, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Rapid CFR's Marin Oblemenco. 1-0. When Tiberiu Hurgoi came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Chinari CSS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiberiu Hurgoi couldn't finish the play. Marin Oblemenco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niculae Ispirescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marin Oblemenco was out of position in the 15 minute of play, and Niculae Ispirescu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Niculae Ispirescu really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. The supporters of Rapid CFR booed when Chinari CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Iordache Ciurea sped through Chinari CSS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Iordache Romanescu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niculae Ispirescu in the 23rd minute of play forced Rapid CFR's goalkeeper Marin Oblemenco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Niculae Ispirescu came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Chinari CSS fans jumped to their feet. Rapid CFR's Marin Oblemenco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niculae Ispirescu in the 34th minute of play. After 39 played minutes Rapid CFR got a freekick which was hit by Gigel Mustață. Marin Oblemenco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Panait Trişcu in the 42nd minute. Iordache Romanescu came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Rapid CFR's Costică Jupâneanu. But to his dismay, Costică Jupâneanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Dan Ţirpe's late challenge caught a Chinari CSS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dan Ţirpe helped the player get up and apologised. Iordache Romanescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iordache Ciurea in the 61st minute of play. Marin Oblemenco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panait Trişcu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Rapid CFR's Maxim Ciorogaru got a free kick in the 79th minute. Niculae Ispirescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marin Oblemenco having to interfere. If Panait Trişcu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marin Oblemenco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niculae Ispirescu in the 89th minute of the match. Despite being the better team, Chinari CSS failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
