Iordache Ciurea started the match with the kick off. Olimpiu Gherase fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marin Oblemenco having to interfere. 13 minutes into the game, Maxim Ciorogaru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rapid CFR's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pionierul Vulcan the free kick. Maxim Ciorogaru hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The supporters of Pionierul Vulcan booed when Rapid CFR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Costică Jupâneanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marin Oblemenco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olimpiu Gherase's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Rapid CFR's Marin Oblemenco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olimpiu Gherase in the 22nd minute of play. Răzvan Onitiu kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Marin Oblemenco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olimpiu Gherase, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Olimpiu Gherase put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Marin Oblemenco. Olimpiu Proca who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Marin Oblemenco when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sever Jurcuț took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marin Oblemenco. Rapid CFR's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Virgil Tofan kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. If Costică Jupâneanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olimpiu Gherase sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olimpiu Gherase stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Pionierul Vulcan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iustinian Cocârlă to maneuver through the defense. When Olimpiu Proca came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Pionierul Vulcan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olimpiu Proca couldn't finish the play. After having played for 67 minutes, Olimpiu Gherase managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pionierul Vulcan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olimpiu Gherase was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 69th play minutes Olimpiu Proca shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Marin Oblemenco and just under the crossbar into goal. Olimpiu Proca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Rapid CFR's Răzvan Onitiu got a free kick in the 85th minute. Pionierul Vulcan's Olimpiu Proca got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marin Oblemenco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olimpiu Gherase in the 90th minute of the match. Olimpiu Proca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marin Oblemenco having to interfere. Marin Oblemenco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olimpiu Gherase, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. There was no doubt that Pionierul Vulcan were the better team. Pionierul Vulcan's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
