In the 7th minute of the match Alex Beșliu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cristi Burca skillfully saved the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Octavian Oniga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marin Oblemenco. Rapid CFR's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Octavian Oniga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Marin Oblemenco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isac Moșoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of Noul booed when Rapid CFR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Răzvan Onitiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Noul's attentive Vintilă Apostu managed to snatch the ball when Gigel Mustață made a throw-in in the 17th minute of the game. After having played for 18 minutes, Corneliu Panaiteanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Noul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Corneliu Panaiteanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20thth minute of the game Corneliu Panaiteanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rapid CFR's Marin Oblemenco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marin Oblemenco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Corneliu Panaiteanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Marin Oblemenco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrei Nicolaescu in the 24th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Noul's Corneliu Panaiteanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marin Oblemenco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Marin Oblemenco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Corneliu Panaiteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Corneliu Panaiteanu in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marin Oblemenco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Noul's Corneliu Panaiteanu in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rapid CFR's goalie prevented a goal. In the 47th minute, Isac Moșoiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iordache Ciurea made a kick off. When Corneliu Panaiteanu came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Noul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Corneliu Panaiteanu couldn't finish the play. Andrei Nicolaescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Manole Petre kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marin Oblemenco. That made the score 0-8 in the 60 minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Noul's Isac Moșoiu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marin Oblemenco. That made the score 0-9 after 63 minutes of play. 67 minutes into the game, Dan Ţirpe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rapid CFR's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Noul the free kick. The audience was convinced that Corneliu Panaiteanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marin Oblemenco was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Marin Oblemenco came out and tried to block the shot, but Isac Moșoiu slotted it home off the left post making it 1-10 in the 84th minute. Noul's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
