Emilian Agachi didn't get a good kick on the ball. 5 minutes into the game, Irinel Staicu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Gigel Caramarin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 16 played minutes Fc. Rapid 1923 got a freekick which was hit by Horia Trăilă. Ferdinand Pistol's late challenge caught a Licuriciu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferdinand Pistol helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute, Irinel Staicu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Licuriciu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Remus Lăzan during the 35th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gigel Caramarin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gheorghe Câmpeanu in the 41st minute of play. Fc. Rapid 1923's Gigel Caramarin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irinel Staicu in the 43rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Fc. Rapid 1923's zone, Irinel Staicu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gigel Caramarin came out of the goal and Irinel Staicu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Irinel Staicu to make the kick off. Sever Honcioiu hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute Ferdinand Pistol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horaţiu Oravițan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Irinel Staicu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 70thth minute, Gigel Caramarin skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Valentin Ghiondea struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Gigel Caramarin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Licuriciu. Rapid 1923. After a defensive mix-up in Licuriciu's zone, Ferdinand Pistol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horaţiu Oravițan came out of the goal and Ferdinand Pistol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Fc. Rapid 1923 fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Licuriciu were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
