Horaţiu Mălăncioiu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Octav Gherguț. Olesti's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 11th minute, Flavius Pantiș hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute, Ferdinand Pistol got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Flavius Pantiș hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Ferdinand Pistol kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Octav Gherguț. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. 25 minutes into the game, Horia Trăilă was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fc. Rapid 1923's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olesti the free kick. After 26 played minutes, Olesti's Iustin Diaconescu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gigel Caramarin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Olesti reached it. Mihnea Florean struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Gigel Caramarin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olesti. Gigel Caramarin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurel Găvan in the 35th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Aurel Găvan made a precise shot to the right of Gigel Caramarin. Fc. Rapid 1923's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Mihnea Florean kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After 42 played minutes Fc. Rapid 1923 got a freekick which was hit by Horia Trăilă. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihnea Florean in the 46th minute of play forced Fc. Rapid 1923's goalkeeper Gigel Caramarin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aurel Găvan in the 49th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gigel Caramarin saved Fc. Rapid 1923 from getting behind. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aurel Găvan to strike the kick off in the second half. Horia Trăilă was shown his second yellow card after 55 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Gigel Caramarin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aurel Găvan's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. After a rather tough play, Fc. Rapid 1923's Narcis Opriș got a free kick in the 90th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Olesti's Aurel Găvan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gigel Caramarin. That made the score 1-2 after 98 minutes of play. The Fc. Rapid 1923 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Olesti's performance. The match ended with a win for Olesti.
